Yes, one week before Rhinebeck, I caved and ordered yarn online. This is going to be my very own Red Riding Hood. It will be a Woodland Hoodlet. My husband is so funny – I asked him what he thought of the pattern, and he said he didn’t really get what it was, and has never seen me wear anything like it. It is definitely a stretch for me – it’s whimsical and fun and a bit edgy, which are all aspects of my personality and fashion choices that I feel like I lost when I left California nearly two years ago. I am thrilled, just thrilled with the color. Sour Cherry. It’s perfect! I’m also testing out this yarn which is an acrylic blend. I nearly always prefer natural fibers, but in my experience, wool spun to a super chunky weight just does not wear well and this is supposed to be an outerwear garment.
It is a gorgeous fall day here, and we are off to pick more apples and get some pumpkins. I tried Ashley’s cardamom apple butter recipe a couple weeks ago and was just thrilled with the results, so now I need more apples! We also have guests coming in this week from California and I am hoping to impress them with how tasty NJ apples are.
