Pattern: Vintage Baby Knits
I love the color, but I have to admit I’m pretty disappointed in the finished object. It is way too big. I thought I got gauge, but got worried when the project seemed extremely tedious for a baby hat. It just dragged on forever. With the neckband added, my hat is at least an inch higher than it should be. I tried it on an 11 month old, and it fits, there’s just a ton of room in the pointy part. I also tried it on a petite 7 year old and it fits her too. Because of the construction, I would have to unravel the ENTIRE hat just to make it a little bit shorter. Ugh, no thanks. I’m bummed because it now does not seem like a good use of the super fancy, expensive yarn. I still have enough to make a matching pair of booties, but perhaps I should do socks meant for a kindergarten student instead given the hat sizing.
