Just got back from a quick visit to California. I have lots to share! I think I will start with this photo of my dear friend Nicole’s shop, Stitch Craft. It’s in Petaluma, featuring a carefully chosen selection of fabrics, patterns by independent designers, vintage trims and notions, and more. Nicole offers tons of sewing classes for children as well as adults. I am currently working on my own version of the dress featured on the mannequin. It’s the Betsy Ross Girly Dress pattern, and I love how Nicole gathered the top to add interest and a more flattering look. There’ s a Stitch Craft blog and Etsy shop.
While I was there with friends, we had a little craft project to work on. Nicole shared her stash of vintage buttons, and we made rings from Susan Beal’s Button It Up. I really wish I had taken pictures of all of the rings! I wish I had made more rings – after I got home I instantly thought of several friends I would love to make one for. Instead I just have this one slightly blurry photo of the ring I made for myself. The anchor is a symbol for hope, and it just seemed like something I’d like to remind myself of these days.
