This super cute project at the Purl Bee was so much fun to pick fabrics for. I want to make a whole toy chest filled with them. The instructions for Fabric Beach Balls include three different sizes. I put a little jingly cat toy in the center of mine as I stuffed it so that it would have a nice sound as it bounced into the hands of the recipient. This project is great for using up scraps of special fabric. To vary the textures, I used fine wale corduroy from a favorite pair of pants that I wore out a few years ago. I couldn’t bear to throw them out, so scraps are worked into projects whenever I can. This would look so cute old jeans or other materials as well. The Purl Bee is a fabulous source for free patterns in many different textile arts. It’s one of my favorite crafty websites.
Today it is slightly overcast – not quite the perfect spring weather I was hoping for, but it will be perfect for sewing up a few more of these balls for special babies in my life.
