Hemlock Ring Ravelry Page.
Whew – so many finished objects from the end of 2008 to post about. First up is the big one, the very popular Hemlock Ring. I did it in Shelridge Farm Soft Touch W4 superwash wool. It should have been easy, but this blanket was a struggle for me. I made two major mistakes, which separately required ripping out hours and hours of work. Then I ran out of yarn for the bind off. I had to cannibalize a gift for my husband to finish it. I had made him these cable footies in November. Wonderful person that he is – he suggested I reknit the toe of his sock in a different yarn instead of ripping out both socks and reknitting them at a different gauge to get two full socks out of the lesser amount of yarn. Blocking was a cinch – the lace opened up beautifully for me. I can see myself doing another one of these in the future, but not for a little while. More photos here.
Oooh, and I have to show the pre-blocking photo too. It’s just amazing how much lace transforms with a little water!
