Wow. After living in California for so long, I had sort of forgotten how beautiful the changing seasons are. Every day I wake up to a different view. It’s simply stunning. I look outside and just feel my heart get lighter. This photo I took a few moments ago outside my house. I spent the long weekend in Virigina and Washington DC. I made it to the new World War II Memorial, the Renwick gallery, the Washington Monument, the White House, to several fun and delicious restaurants, and apple picking!! Photos here. The weather was hot! It was as if I stepped back in time to September, got another chance to appreciate it, and then returned via the train to October where it can amaze me with novelty.
The apple picking was at Stribling Orchard. $1.50 per lb, and a bakery that was well worth waiting in line for. This cinnamon sugar doughnut was so warm and soft – it’s unreal how good fresh doughnuts are. The apple stick didn’t last long enough for me to photograph. If you are in the area, I recommend a visit! I bought some local honey that I plan to use in my apple butter later this week.
