I don’t know how long I will do this, but while I am cleaning out the endless boxes of my stuff in the basement in my parents’ house, I am finding a few wonderful items from my childhood. My baby blankets, favorite craft supplies, dolls and the like. My beloved bottlecap collection (kept in a glass Skippy jar) and my forgotten about shell collection. I’d like to share a few of the highlights that I’ve found.
This is a baby quilt made by my grandmother for my family in the 1970s. It needs some repairs, but I just love all of the color variety. I have a quilting kit that she and one of my great aunts put together for me when I was about four or five, and *if* I find that, I will also find some of these prints so I could repair the quilt with the same fabric. It’s the Holy Grail of the cleanout. A wicker satchel with a clasp on it that held my sewing needles and the squares of fabric my grandmother had cut out for me.
I am off on a cupcake adventure to visit a dear friend. If you are local to North Jersey, the fabulous Calandra’s Bakery is having a special on cupcakes this week: 50% off! Like I need an excuse.
