This is what it looks like when you don’t read the heel instructions carefully, ignore your inner knitting voice saying “This heel cap is way too tight” and complete the entire sock only to discover upon starting the second sock that you made a huge mistake. I am thinking of threading through a lifeline after the gusset on the first sock, cutting, and unraveling the entire gusset and heel. Then I will pick up from the cuff, re-knit the heel and gusset, and graft the stitches to where I threaded through the lifeline. Any thoughts on this process? I think it will take at least 4 hours less than re-knitting the entire sock.
