I don’t have much of a yarn stash. I’m moving soon, and have dispatched with everything that I did not really love. I traded a dear friend a bag of yarn for her spinning skills. The photo is a sample. I am just thrilled! I bought some orange and ice blue merino roving from Deep Color Studio here in California. I know how to use a drop spindle and had intentions of spinning it myself, but the learning curve really put me off. I didn’t want to learn to spin, I just want to buy yarn. Can’t wait to think of which project in my insanely long Ravelry queue this yarn will be perfect for.
I have some finished projects to show off but must wait for the recipients to actually get the items in the mail lest I ruin the surprise! In the meantime, I am working on a special gift for my mom and that is the only WIP I have. I’ve selected several projects to work on for this summer and have ordered the yarn as well.
Next on the needles:
- Brick Pullover, for my husband, in Classic Elite Four Season Cotton, Burnt Orange. The pattern calls for a lighter weight yarn, and smaller needles, but I’d rather do something like this in a slightly heavier yarn and perhaps on size 7s. I will do the math and post my mods if it works!
- Saturday in the Park Perfect Dress in Classic Elite Soft Linen, Kentucky Blue. I am hoping that doing this in a slightly lighter gauge will be more flattering, and that by using a lightweight wool/linen blend I will have good stitch definition without the sagging that seems to plague knit dresses. This is a huge undertaking, but I’m excited! I also plan to move the neckline up a little bit, as the notes I’ve read indicate it would be too low-cut for my comfort as written.
- Bayerische Socks
- other projects! I have a few gifts in mind, and a crochet cardigan if I can find good yarn for it.
Anyone out there have summer knit/crochet project plans to share?
