I knit this top for my friend Amanda, who just got married. It’s two kinds of silk from Art Fibers. In fact, it’s the same two kinds of silk I used for my Surplice Bodice Camisole only in different colorways. To make this cami, I took the top part from the Silk Camisole in the Knitting Lingerie Style book, and merged it with the lace from the Baby Doll. I also omitted the front split, and simply knit it in the round. I added the straps from the Baby Doll pattern as well. It was very difficult to merge the two patterns, figure out gauge, and get something that would fit someone else. I spent more time ripping this out than I did actually knitting. The picked up border of garter stitch was particularly difficult, for no good reason. It just kept bagging and sagging in the wrong places. I’m wearing a strapless bra in the photo, which looks a little lopsided – I don’t know why! – but in real life, I would probably wear this with a sheer cami underneath it and a full bra. Hope the bride likes it! I packaged it with a bag I made from Superbuzzy fabric.
