So from our six green bean bushes, this is the first harvest. I think we’ll get one more out of it. So far, we got six yellow squash, a couple small zucchinis, and this bunch of beans. A home container garden does not appear to be very cost effective. I can’t wait to live someplace where I can actually plant in the ground.
From the zucchini posted a few days ago, I made my own version of the Chocolate Zucchini cake from Marcel Desaulniers’s Death By Chocolate Cakes cookbook . I used loaf pans because I don’t have an angel food cake pan. The recipe was fairly easy, surprisingly, but a little thick for my hand mixer. I can see why a lot of the recipes from the book call for a stand mixer. I didn’t frost it, but as my sister suggested, a cream cheese frosting or perhaps a chocolate honey buttercream would be marvelous. One recipe made these two cakes, which seems like a pretty sweet deal to me!
