A new girl was just added to my family this weekend. I haven’t had much time to play with her, since I was camping until late Sunday night. Last night I was determined to take a few photos of her for the new Flickr Pinafore Purple group.
It’s funny, I went through all the dolly clothes that I have (which isn’t much) and I realized that though a few items can be borrowed back and forth between the girls, almost everything specifically belongs to one of them and just doesn’t look right on the others. Off I went to make her a quick dress. In purple, of course. Silk scraps from a friend. The lace is from a thrift sale, and the gold/pink print silk for her belt and purse are also scraps from someone else.
I attempted the Puchimadem Party Dress pattern, and it went terribly. The silk was much too stiff to be used in the pattern. It looked terrible on the poor girl.(see the first photo for evidence) So, I ripped it apart, cut it into an A-line, added some more trim, and resewed it. Now, I love it!
I did cheat a little bit and glue on the top layer of lace and the belt. Does that make me a bad crafter?
